Online blackjack strategies have been devised in order to increase the players odds of winning. In online blackjack the player has to reach a hand value closer to twenty-one than the hand value of the dealer, without crossing twenty-one. The simplest options that he has to exercise are hit and stand. In online blackjack hit means to ask for another card and stand means that no further card will be draw. But there are options on offer in online blackjack that makes blackjack strategies very interesting. 
One such option in online blackjack is Surrender. After seeing the first two cards dealt to him and the dealer’s open card a player can surrender his game and reclaim half his wagered amount. An interesting option in online blackjack is Insurance. When the dealer’s open card is an Ace the Insurance option comes into play. The player can place a bet for half his wagered amount that the dealer will get a ten-value card in his next draw. This bet pays double money.  The Double Down bet in online blackjack is exercised if the player feels he has a good chance of winning. He can double his stake by accepting the condition that he draws one and only one more card. Most online blackjack casinos offer the Split option.  If both the player’s cards are of the same denomination he can split them and play as if he is holding two hands by wagering an additional equal amount.

Using computer programs mathematicians have worked out the probability of winning for all options available in any situation in online blackjack. The situation is defined by the player’s present hand value and the dealer’s open card value in the form a table in which the online blackjack strategies are entered. Another factor is the number of decks used in the online blackjack game. The online blackjack strategies are entered in the squares in the table. The blackjack strategies normally covered are Stand, Hit, Split and Double Down. If the player has a hand value of 12 and the dealer has an upcard of 6 then the online blackjack strategy will be given at the intersection of these two values. In the case of a six deck online blackjack game the optimum blackjack strategy in this case will be to Stand. Blackjack strategies indicate what the most optimum strategy should be; they do not guarantee a win.
