Online Blackjack Odds

Introduction to Blackjack odds

Online blackjack odds refer to the chance of the player winning (or losing or tying) from a given situation. They do not refer to the payout, which is fixed at even money, except in special circumstances like a blackjack. Each online blackjack deal can have a number of moves and therefore the blackjack odds keep on changing. For example if the dealt value of a player’s hand is 14 and the upcard value of the dealer is 10 then the blackjack odds of the player winning are low. However if the next card drawn by the player is 6 and his hand value becomes 20, the blackjack odds of his winning increase tremendously. In addition to the changing nature of blackjack odds, there are numerous possibilities in a given situation. A drawn card can be anything from an Ace to a King and between the player and dealer there are a number of cards drawn in an online blackjack deal. Hence the computation of blackjack odds is extremely difficult. Computer simulation programs are used to calculate blackjack odds for every situation in an online blackjack deal. The results are not usually reported as blackjack odds but as the option that has the highest blackjack odds. For example if in an online blackjack deal with two decks the player is dealt two 8s and the dealer a 6, the computer program will calculate the chances of winning if the player hits, stands, doubles and splits and report the option that has the best online blackjack odds. The preferred options for all possible scenarios in online blackjack are reported in the form of a table for easy viewing.

Online Blackjack Odds

Online blackjack odds have been calculated for all basic possibilities in online  blackjack . On an average in online  blackjack the player is expected to win 44% of the deals and the dealer 48% of the deals, with 8% of the online  blackjack deals expected to be tied. But the online blackjack odds for the amount won by the player are greater because blackjack pays 3:2 for the player and 1:1 for the dealer in online blackjack. It is customary to report the  blackjack odds as the house cut, which is what the house expects to win in the long run. The greater the house cut, the lower are the  blackjack odds for the player winning. Based on the basic online  blackjack strategy the house cut for online  blackjack is 0.8%, which is better than in roulette or slots.
