In online BJ first two cards are dealt to the player and one to the dealer. On the basis of this the player decides whether he wants to hit or stand. If the player crosses 21 he busts. When the player decides to stand, the dealer draws cards according to the procedure laid down in the version of online  blackjack being played. If the dealer crosses 21, he busts. Otherwise the hand values of the player and dealer are compared and the one closer to 21 is the winner. Blackjack 21 pays out even money for wins.
